Hey, it's the holidays - one of my favorite things is the smell of egg nog. Not the taste of egg nog so much, that stuff is nasty, but the smell - you gotta love the smell. It smells like . . . . well, it smells like Christmas!
Speaking of smells - there is nothing like the smell of a freshly cut sprig of pine that you put in a glass of water next to the artificial tree. MMM - I can smell the outdoors now - or is that the smell of the moist box within which you store the tree in the attic? Yes, if I close my eyes, I can harken (nice holiday word) back to a time when I was naïve enough to think that all the work to find the right tree, cut it down, haul it home, and set it up (not to mention taking it down) was worth it. Yes, those were the days!
How about Kid ornaments - another one of my favorite things - gotta love those! Red blobs that only you can recognize as Santa. A popsicle stick wrapped with pipe cleaners that is most assuredly Dasher or Dancer, I can't remember which.
And my most favorite thing - mistletoe! Yep - carry it wherever I go. The stuff is pure gold! Now all I need is a little frankensence and mir (yah, I know that's not how you spell those but as a kid I always wondered what three kings were going to do with a monster for the holidays - now I just ask my kids).
