It's that time of year again....time for some spring cleaning!  We've all accumulated things we don't use or need anymore.  It's a good idea to donate any unwanted items to a local charity or shelter.  But you may be wondering what to do with those other items that you don't want to get rid of.  Units Mobile Storage of Orlando can help!  Rent a portable storage container today.  Clean out your garage, closets and attic, you'll be so glad you did!  Here are some items that are perfect to place in a storage unit:

-Sporting equipment that is rarely used

-Furniture (antique, heirloom or just extra pieces)

            -Holiday decorations

            -Seasonal clothes

-Unused interior decorating items (artwork, lamps, collections)

            -Books and other keepsakes

            -Luggage

-Anything that is taking up extra space that you do not use

If you ever feel the need to access an item, you can either come to our warehouse to retrieve it, or we can deliver the Unit back to you. It's convenient and simple!

Here are some great tips to consider when packing a storage container:

1.    Protect your items by placing a plastic sheet or tarps on the floor of the container.

2.    Place large or heavy items in the back or sides of the container.  Put mattresses and box springs along the walls of the unit and shield them with protective bags.

3.    Use various sized boxes to pack your belongings.  Place heavier items such as books in smaller boxes to prevent making the box too difficult to carry.  Large boxes work best for larger items.

4.    Wrap breakables in paper, bubble wrap or towels to protect them.  Do not over pack your boxes and close them securely with packing tape.

5.    Wardrobe boxes are recommended for storing clothing.  The bottoms of these boxes are great for storing your shoes as well.  Or keep clothes in dresser drawers and wrap saran wrap around the drawers to keep the contents from falling out.

6.    Place liquid containers in plastic bags before placing in boxes to prevent spills.

7.    Pack your container by placing heavier boxes on the bottom and lighter boxes on top.

8.    Label your boxes.  It makes it easier to place the correct box in the right room when un-packing.

9.    Utilize straps to secure large items such as couches, refrigerators, dresser drawers, and entertainment
stands.

10. Do not pack gasoline or other hazardous flammable substances in your container

11.   To keep your belongings secure, always keep your storage unit locked with a heavy duty padlock when not in use.
